Ferdinand was a prominent citizen of Buffalo. He had eight children. One daughter died as a very young child. Ferdinand turned gray overnight when one of the children was very ill, probably at the time of thedeath of little Edna.
Ferdinand was quite a photographer as was seen by the many rare picturesprinted in the Davenport papers. He also was a painter and a paperhanger; being left-handed was quite a help as he could use both hands andreach quite a distance without moving the ladder. He lived to be over100 years old and was very active to the end of life. Six of hischildren were living on his 100th birthday.
